We are still the Church

As we respond to the needs of those among us…we are still the church.

The board has voted to cancel all “in-person” gatherings through March 29 (when the board will re-evaluate), effectively closing the building, but….we are still the church.

We will stream worship at 11 am on Sunday morning (with just Pastor Angela and Lucas presiding) on our Facebook page, and we will make it available to watch anytime thereafter because….we are still the church.

We will call one another, send cards to one another, and pray for one another because….we are still the church.

We will find creative ways to minister to one another during this time of disrupted routines because…we are still the church.

We will reach out to Tracey (in the office) with prayer concerns to share via email because…we are still the church.

Coleen will email out portions of each week’s Sunday School lesson to the elementary school parents so they can study and worship with their children because…we are still the church.

We will still read Scripture together, sharing our reflections on each week’s text via Facebook or email (or perhaps webinar as Pastor Angela continues to explore options) because…we are still the church.

We will continue to give generously to the ministries of this church (through online giving), and to those in need (consider buying gift cards to your favorite local businesses to help support them during this time, for example) because…we are still the church.

We will pray for the doctors and nurses, the state and national leaders as they make decisions, and those all over the world who have been devastated by this illness because…we are still the church.

We will praise God with each breath, for God is certainly in our midst, and because…we are still the church.

We will emerge a stronger community because…we are still the church.
