Womens Retreat March 13 & 14
Brethren Woods Camp & Retreat Center
New Windsor Workday
March 19, 2015
For those who are not familiar with the program, we will be working in the SERVV warehouse. SERRV International is a non-profit organization which promotes the social and economic progress of people in developing regions of the world by purchasing and marketing their crafts in a just and direct manner.
We will leave our church around 7:00 AM on March 19 and approximately 2 hours later we will arrive at New Windsor for check in and assignment of duties. (Most jobs can be done while seated). We unpack the products of those artisans mentioned above—inspect them for breaks, imperfections, etc.—repack them and add price tags—count and place in packing cartons for shipment to various SERRV gift shops. There is a morning break and a generous lunch (served buffet style) with ample time to browse and shop in the New Windsor gift shop. Volunteers are given a 20% discount on all items including those on sale. Departure time is around 2:30 PM which places us back at the church around 4:30 PM tired but satisfied for our contribution to this worthwhile program.
A sign up sheet is on the bulletin board in hallway from narthex to sanctuary. If you would be willing to drive a vehicle, please indicate so. Any questions may be directed to Marlyn McClure (703-594-2285, or 571-334-1868) or by e-mail(

Nokesville Church of the Brethren Children’s Fundraiser
Read-to-Feed Spring Challenge
February 5-April 19th
As the children read books during the time period of Feb 5-Apr 9, please support them in their efforts to raise $750 or more for Heifer’s East Africa Dairy Development. All money earned during this time and submitted before April 30 will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Heifer supporters.
Pledge an amount of money per book read. The children will keep a record of books read up until April 9th. Pledge amounts will be totaled and the money must be submitted by April 19th. (Younger children will keep a record of books read to them.)
One time donations are also acceptable and appreciated. Make checks out to Nokesville Church of the Brethren and designate “children’s fundraiser” on the offering envelope; likewise with cash donations.
To donate online, go to:
Who benefits? The children benefit from reading or being read to, while learning more about how their efforts can make a better world for the people of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The Heifer East Africa Dairy Development benefits and you benefit by giving a gift of the heart that blesses God’s children around the world.
Thank you for your support and generosity!
