Join us as we partner with the Manassas and Oakton COBs this year to offer a Longest Night Service on Zoom. This service, held near the longest night of the year, the winter solstice, is a quiet and reflective service meant especially for those who carry heavy burdens and emotions into the Christmas Season. Focusing less on Christmas cheer and more on the power of Christ’s light to overcome darkness, this worship holds up hope in the face of grief and brokenness. You are welcome to join us. Contact the office for the Zoom link or call-in information.
It’s Shoebox ministry time of year again and we are reaching out for EVERYONE’S help. At this time it looks like we have 7 college students that we will be sending boxes to. As always homemade goodies are well received and treasured. However, they sometimes don’t travel well. So if you are baking please keep in mind what items travel well through the mail. Other items that we would love to fill their boxes with are things like small candy bars, rice crispy treats, individual trail mix packs, mac & cheese, cup o’noodles, individual boxes of cereal, fruit snacks and protein or granola bars. Since it will soon be fall maybe some microwave popcorn, hot chocolate, or hot cider packages would be nice. Be creative! As always gift cards to places like Subway and Domino’s pizza are appreciated. I will leave a container at the church on Sunday Sept. 6, 2020. I would like to pick it up (very full!) by that evening. I will be happy to meet folks there between 3-5 p.m. to accept donations.
Thanks,
Dianne Nelson – Shoebox Ministry Coordinator
