Martha Early Quilting Circle

When the church was built in 1946-47, a large room was built especially for this group and designated “The Aid Room” where ladies of the church and community could sew together. The sewing circle is named the “Martha Early Circle” in honor of an early church member.

Today the Circle meets at 10:00 a.m. the 2nd Wednesday of the month at the church to make quilts and lap robes which are donated to local nursing homes and community service organizations. Some quilts are sold to earn money to purchase batting and sewing notions to make more quilts.

Each year we host a “Community Sewing Day” when volunteers from quilting groups throughout the Nokesville area gather to make community service quilts.  This group has been meeting continuously since the church’s founding in the late 1800s.
